ShortStop

Resolve shortcut conflicts

ShortStop is an app for Mac OS X to disable global keyboard shortcuts (hotkeys) so you can interact with the current application unencumbered.

Utility applications add dozens of global keyboard shortcuts to your system. This creates a problem: global keyboard shortcuts that conflict with and override useful local keyboard shortcuts to (e.g. menu commands) in whatever application you’re currently using. The result? You’re going to confuse your computer, your apps, and yourself. This results in lost time, interrupted workflow and reduced efficiency - the exact opposite of what a keyboard shortcut is supposed to accomplish.

To solve this problem, we created ShortStop. ShortStop suspends all global shortcuts with just a single click, and brings them back just as easily with another click. In addition, you can create a list of apps that will automatically trigger ShortStop to save you even that one click.

Imagine being able to properly control screen sharing sessions, or use your favorite keyboard shortcut-heavy app (I’m looking at you Photoshop) without fear of collision! It’s the perfect utility for multi-taskers, gamers, IT people who frequently use screen sharing to control a remote system (VNC, RDP, TeamViewer), or while using virtual machines (VMware, Parallels, VirtualBox).
